A 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning squad member has started transfer talks with European teams.
After being crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the recently concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, it seems Kelechi Nwakali is proving his worth. The player’s agent, Klay Ekeocha, has confirmed recently that there have been talks with the English Premier League giants Chelsea to sign the young player.
The 17-year-old reached an agreement on Monday to be represented by the same agency that looks after Real Madrid’s Welsh star Gareth Bale. The Golden Eagles captain recently admitted that he would favour a move to Arsenal over any “big English club,” due to the Gunners’ style of play.
Despite his desire to play for Arsenal, his agent says the club is yet to follow up their interest in the player and that Chelsea have already tabled an offer.
According to Ekeocha, clubs from Italy and Greece are also interested in securing the services of the player.
“We are in contact with Chelsea, Udinese and Olympiacos. Udinese made a ridiculous offer of €800,000 for the Most Valuable Player of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup. We are working hard for the player, his family and academy. Manchester City and West Ham are no longer involved because of the work permit issues. We got in touch with Arsenal and there’s no feed-back yet,” Ekeocha said.
