The Biafra movement may have received a huge boost and momentum following Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest upon his arrival in Nigeria by the DSS. The movement for actualization of the Republic of Biafra has gained significant publicity across the world, and the action of the Nigerian government may have helped to internationalize the peaceful movement for the attainment of the Republic of Biafra. The arrest of Nnamdi Kanu has undoubtedly internationalized the Biafra movement. The longer he is kept in detention the more publicity is generated internationally and locally for the movement.
The Nigerian Embassy vicinity was the staging ground for the largest demonstration in support of Biafra outside Nigeria. London Police struggled to contain the demonstrators and placed heavy barricades as supporters of Biafra staged the biggest rally in and around the Nigerian Embassy in London. The protesters carried placards demanding for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu. They had blow horns and attracted lots of the London TV, Radio and Newspaper coverage. Some of the demonstrators had enlarged photos of Nnamdi kanu whom they referred to as a Political prisoner.
