Rivers election: Appeal Court nullifies Senator Sekibo’s election, others


Senator SekiboJudgments are beginning to pour in from the Appeal court for the National Assembly Elections in Rivers State.
An Appeal court Tribunal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District in Rivers state, Senator, George Sekibo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Senator Sekibo’s victory suffered a major setback following a petition by Chief Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Appeal court also nullified the election of six members of the Federal House of Representatives.
Those affected are Blessing Nsiegbe of the PDP representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2, Boniface Emerengwa also of the PDP representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal constituency and Kingsley Chinda of the PDP representing Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency.
The elections of Bright Gogo of the PDP representing Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency, Boma Godhead of Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru constituency, and that of Jerome Eke representing Etche/Omuma Federal constituency were also nullified.
Meanwhile, the petitions of APC’s Andrew Uchendu, Chidi Wehioka, Ogbonna Nwuke, Collyns Owhonda, Dawari George, Maureen Tamuno, and former Amaechi’s Chief of Staff, Tony Okocha were upheld.
