New party emerges from PDP

Disgruntled PDP members float new party- PMP

Alas at last, the inevitable outcome of the change process currently ongoing in the Peoples Democratic Party, is nigh.

On Tuesday, a faction of the opposition party, launched a new political party in Abuja.

In what was the least surprising detail about the development- the faction is led by Perry Opara, an aide to Ahmed Gulak.

Gukak, who is deeply displeased with the former ruling party, was in January, rejected as the national chairman of the party.

His attempt to force himself as the party’s leader and the stunt of declaring himself ‘PDP Chairman’ simply led him into the bad book of the one time ‘biggest political party in Africa’.

The new political party- which at the moment, is yet to be registered- is known as Peoples Mega Party (PMP).

An acronym which has the undertone of what an Hip-Hop record label would be called…

The new political party is said to be composed of disgruntled members of the PDP.

During what was described as a National Executive Council/National retreat, the new party, through its Acting National Chairman, Opara, informed delegates that their sole objective was the creation of a very focused and patriotic body, bereft of impunity, imposition and confusion.

“The major people who are in the party are former members of the PDP who disenchanted by the high level of corruption, high level of impunity and high-handedness in the PDP. They have decided to form something very new and they are of the opinion that they should hand over the party to younger elements who are less corrupt and who can be able to fight for the interest of the people
