The Department of State Services (DSS) has freed ex-national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh.

Umeh, who was arraigned on March 4, Thursday, at his Aguluzigbo country home in Anambra state and later whisked to Abuja for interrogation on his supposed sponsorship of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was released on March 4, Friday. Chief Jerry Obasi, the APGA’s deputy secretary, confirmed his release. Meanwhile, the politician supposed that the arrest was politically motivated. The IPOB has rejected reports that it’s being sponsored by Victor Umeh, claiming that the group has no sponsor anywhere around the world. The leader of the pro-Biafra group Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention since October 2015 and is currently being held at the Kuje prison on charges of treason
